Insight Editions Journals – Functional & Beautifully Crafted

I’m an absolute sucker when it comes to cool stationery. Especially when stationery comes in the form of journals, and these journals happen to have video game insignia on them.

Insights Editions Journals have developed a line of journals with famous logos and emblems etched into the cover.

The pages are ruled, high-quality paper which is evident upon opening.

Standing at 8.5 inches, these things are perfect to slip into your rucksack, side bag or handbag.

I managed to get my hands on a cool selection; a Gears of War, Halo and Skyrim journal.

Not a bad size either

The quality is evident the second you pick one of these up. Etched into the covers are the logos of the respective brands which add to the polished feel. Under the hard covers are pieces of artwork which represent the particular branding. In my case, I had a pretty badass illustration of what appears to be Installation 03 for the Halo journal. For the Gears of War journal, there was a cool action shot of the Gears with a similar theme inside the Skyrim journal.

Usually I’m not a fan of ruled pages, because I don’t like those lines holding me down. I make my own rules.

There’s just something about these journals that make me want to scribble inside them every chance I get. Ruled or not, these journals are my new favourites.

They’re a lot less douchey (and less pricey!) than the Moleskine hardcovers, and there’s a respectable choice, too. Game of Thrones journals with the sigils, superhero logos as well as Harry Potter. They even have one with Guillermo Del Toro branding. Who knew!?

The bottom line here is, these are my new go-to journals. Acid-free archival paper, hardcover, sturdy construction, and sweet logos to go with it. I don’t even know what acid-free means. Who cares?!

Check these out if you’re a geek for this stuff, while you’re at it, throw away those plain journals. They’re boring. These aren’t.
